GV II

Terrace of 10 weavers' cottages. Late C18/early C19 (before
1831). Painted squared and coursed limestone rubble with
ashlar architraves, platbands and quoins, rubblestone now
mostly rendered. Continuous double-Roman tile roof with brick
stacks to gable ends and party walls. Double-depth plan with
rear entrances and later rear outshuts.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 10-window range. C20 casements in
original mullioned windows with roll-edged architraves and
stone mullions, 2-light to the 2nd floor, 3-light to the 1st
floor and alternate 3 and 4-light to the ground floor. The
rear is similar with C20 single-storey additions.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Substantially complete and early surviving terrace layout of
artisan cottages.
