Two houses. Probably C18, remodelled and refronted early C19;
Painted stucco over cob and rubblestone, slate roofs, brick
stack to the party wall of No 8 and the rear of No.9A.
2 central-entry plans with 2 principal ground-floor rooms.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; each 3-window range. Nos 8 and 9A have
late C19 2-over-2-pane sash windows at eaves level.
Half-glazed 4-panel doors, that to No.8 with partly-moulded
pilasters and simple entablature, that to No.9A is simpler and
probably C18. Flanking the party wall to the ground floor are
shallow curved bays with 8/8-pane sash windows with curved
frames; that to No.8 has a lower sill than that to No.9A which
has margin panes. Outer ground-floor windows are 6/6-pane
sashes. Mid C20 extensions to rear.
INTERIOR: of No.9A has an open fire to the right, panelled
shutters and a cupboard to the rear wall below a niche with
shaped shelves. The staircase has early C19 stick balusters
and a turned newel. The wall to the rear of the 1st floor is
known to be of cob.
