Lodge at Norton Nursery

Lodge. c1870. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and
fish scale slate roof with central coped stone stack.
Plinth, quoins, string course, curved wooden eaves brackets
and traceried bargeboards and finials to gables. 2 storeys; 1
x 1 windows. L-plan. Windows are mainly mid C20 wooden cross
casements. Main gable, to left, has a cross casement and above
it a square blank panel, both with stone surrounds. Below, a
canted stone bay window with central cross casement and open
latticework balustrade. Right gable has similar first floor
cross casement and blank panel. Below, a cross casement with
stone surround and label mould. Rear has to right a gable with
a 2-light casement and below, a Tudor arched door.
INTERIOR not inspected.
This lodge was probably one of the ancillary buildings to the
nearby Norton Hall (qv).
