Restored framed and ½ timbered modern structure on site of C16 manor house which
was destroyed by fire about 10 years ago.
East Elevation - 3 gable ends with ornamental carved bargeboards and centre
pendants. 2 storeys and attic gable end windows. Period leaded casements throuhgout
3 projecting octagon bays on ground floor with windows centrally placed above
on each storey.
Rear Elevation - Original tall Tudor stack with base of brick with stone dressing.
General - compared with Cl9 illustrations of Gabriels', the present structure
is a fairly faithful replica.
Interior - uninteresting except for various Cl6 beams and joists which have
been reinstated.
Historic Associations - with the Stanford family who owned the Manor in C18
and C19, the house was probably built by Nicholas Scyliard in 1570 who owned
the neighboruing Manor of Delaware.
