Barn Farm

GV II

Barn. Late C16, altered in C18. Timber framed barn of 4 bays, the exterior weather-
boarded on part sandstone, part brick plinth. Half-hipped old tiled roof. In the
C18 or early, C19 3 weather-boarded ventilation slits were added on each side. Lean-to
extension to rear on rustic wooden supports not of special interest. Interior has
late C16 gunstock jowled upright posts with tie beams and curved braces. Midrail
to wall frame and the end walls each have 4 C16 curved tension braces. In the C18
the side walls were modified and mainly have diagonal tension braces and the roof
was also altered. Angled queen strut roof with through purlins and ridgepiece.
