SJ 87 NE OVER ALDERLEY C.P. PRESTBURY ROAD
(North Side)

5/173 Butler's Cottage

4/8/1978

II

Cottage for the butler at Hare Hill: early C19 with mid C19
alterations. Rusticated brick, Welsh slate roof and 2 gable plastered
chimneys. 2-storey symmetrical 3-bay front. End bays have 3-light
wooden casements with lozenge-shaped panes on stone sills. Framed and
boarded door behind a rustic gabled wooden trellised porch. To right
is a simple verandah on brick piers.

Refenestrated at the time when the house and the lodges were made more
picturesque, but here on a humble building.
