Upton Barton

Range of farmbuildings. Probably mid C19. Stone rubble. Rag slate roofs with
hipped and gable ends.
Plan: Range of barns on north and west side of yard at Upton Farm. The barn on the
west is attached to the west gable end of the farmhouse (qv) and has an overall
rectangular plan, the ground rising to rear with a parallel range across the rear.
The farmbuildings then return to the east to enclose the north side of the yard
forming an overall 'L' shaped plan. Shippons and stables on ground floor with
threshing floor, granary and hay loft on first.
Exterior: Two storeys. Asymmetrically placed window and door openings with dressed
stone arches to the western barn and granite lintels on north. The latter has plank
double loft doors with hoods on first floor and row of pigeon holes below the eaves.
