Later C19. White brick facade with stucco and red brick bands. Red brick eaves
cornice. Tiled roof with fishscale bands in brown tiles. End chimneys. 2 storeys,
basement and 1 centre pedimented dormer breaking through eaves. 3 bays, each with
paired unbarred sashes under paired engraved segmental stuccoed arches. Broad stucco
bands at impost height and stucco string courses at sill height. Pilasters flank
sides and centre bays. Centre door with elaborate scrolled stucco pediment. Swags
on tympanum. Fluted pilasters terminate in finials above moulded cornice. Door
at 6 panels set in glazed surround. Rectangular fanlight. Included for group value.
All the listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, with the listed street
lamps form a group, together with Nos 1 and 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter
and St Paul, Church Place and with the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. (No
45, High Street is of local interest).
