PORTSLADE.
One or two dwellings, subsequently converted into 4. Possibly
C18, altered mid-late C20. Rendered, coursed, knapped flints
on right return, slate roof, overhanging eaves, brick stack
between first and second bays left, rendered stack between
first and second bays right. L-plan, range fronting road with
extension to No.57. Two storeys plus attic, 4 bays, inserted
C20 dormer first bay left to No.57, first floor all 12-pane
sash windows, ground floor 18-pane sash window end bay right,
entrance to No.63 set back on right return, early C20
half-glazed door to No 61, C20 plank door to No.59, C19 canted
bay window and C20 door with cantilever porch on shaped
brackets to No 57. Interior not seen. Small, 2-storey
extension abutting No.57 to north, clay tiled roof hipped to
south, crooked stack, coursed flint and brick with 3-part
horizontal sliding sash window; possibly a bakehouse. Remnants
of walls abutting the gable end of No 57 indicate that the
property originally extended to the west. 'SUN' firemark to
No.57.
