II

Town house of mid-C19, now divided into four flats.

MATERIALS: The building is constructed of stone rubble, with stucco to the front elevation, an asbestos slate roof and brick end stack. To the rear, half of the right gable is slate hung.

PLAN: Double-depth plan.

EXTERIOR: The building is of two-storeys with a symmetrical 3-window front plus extra doorway on the right. Within the principal (north) façade the building retains its original 12-pane hornless sashes on the first floor but the ground floor windows have been replaced with modern plastic framed versions. The central doorway has pilasters and moulded entablature with panelled reveal and door. The other doorway has a 4-pane door and overlight. The rear elevation also retains its original windows on the first floor with a small 8-pane window located within the centre of the property and two flanking 12-pane sashes similar to those on the principal façade.

INTERIOR: Not inspected

REASONS FOR DESIGNATION
Pound House, 3 Pound Street, Liskeard is designated at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* The building is of architectural significance as an example of a modest but pleasant mid-C19 town house with restrained classical detail and regionally distinctive slate hangings.
* Group value with other C19, and earlier, listed buildings adjacent to it on Pound Street and The Parade.
