House, now offices. 1754, with late C19 alterations; restored
late C20. Ashlar and coursed squared stone, painted, with
ashlar dressings and slate roofs with 2 renewed brick gable
stacks and single coped gable.
Plinth, first floor band and sill band, chamfered quoins,
modillion main cornice. 3 storeys; 5-window range of 12-pane
sashes with eared architraves, cornices and aprons. Central
sash also has volutes, pseudo-balustrade and curly dentillated
pediment dated 1754. Above, 5 smaller 6-pane windows with
eared architraves.
Doorcase with pediment on Doric columns, with panelled recess
and 6-panel door. On either side, 2 windows with Gibbs
surrounds and rusticated aprons, those to left are plain
sashes, and those to right C20 plain windows. Right return has
first and second floor bands. Gable to left has on each floor
two 2-light blocked casements with stone flush mullions and
projecting surrounds. Second floor windows are smaller.
Rear wing, to right, has 2 similar windows, 2 and 3 lights,
with the mullions removed and reglazed with plain sashes.
Above, a smaller 2-light and 3-light window with flush
mullions. Below, to left, a doorway with Gibbs surround,
containing a plain sash. To right, an unequally hung 30-pane
sash in a stone surround.
INTERIOR has stairwell with enriched modillion cornice with
fleurons, and leafy ceiling bosses. Cantilever stone winder
stair with iron stick balusters and ramped scrolled handrail.
First landing has 4 moulded and enriched doorcases with broken
pediments and fielded 6-panel doors in panelled recesses.
Ground-floor hall has 5 enriched doorcases with similar doors.
Ground-floor right front room has moulded cornice and span
beam, elliptical-arched alcove and wooden fireplace with eared
surround, cornice and lattice frieze.
