House, now in commercial use. Early C19, with later alterations. Rubble,
stucco, slate roof, pantiled at rear. Gothic style, symmetrical front.
3 storeys and 8 windows, canted bay through 3 storeys to each side, all window
sashes in moulded architraves except at 2nd floor 9-pane sashes in same surround,
central Doric porch with pediment and 8-panelled door; plinth, band course above
ground floor windows, string course at cills of first floor windows, cornice and
embattled parapet with stepped merlons over canted bays. Left return of
2 windows as on front, ground and first floor to right, blocked; rear wing of
2 storeys and 3 windows, varied. Rear has 2 rear wings, each with gable end and
coping, central block has first floor central round-headed window lighting stair
with Gothic intersecting glazing bars, 9-pane sash above, both with moulded
architrave and keystone; C20 single storey flat-roofed extension between 2 wings.
Interior: entrance hall with plain modillion cornice has open-well stair to rear
with turned balusters and knops, moulded wreathed handrail, panelling to sides
with plain pilasters at landings, rising to 2nd floor. Front left room has
enriched modillion cornice, shutters to windows, 6-panelled doors; front right
room has dentil cornice and shutters.
