Formerly known as: Priest's House AMINGTON GREEN Amington.
House. Late C16 or early C17 with C18 additions. Timber frame,
mostly covered with plaster, exposed framing to gables has
later decorative quadrants, with brick extensions; tile roof
with brick stacks. 3-unit lobby-entrance plan with cross wing
to right end, and left end extension. Single storey with
attic; 4-window range. Central entrance has plank door;
windows have C20 leaded casements of varying sizes; 1st floor
has gabled dormer to left end, other windows in gables.
Exposed square framing to bay to right of centre, jettied
gable with decorative framing; bay to right of centre has some
decorative framing over window; cross wing has exposed tie
beam and collar. Large cross-axial stack and end stacks. Rear
has roof carried down over passage and gabled single-storey
wing; some windows with pegged frames and leaded glazing to
right end. Left return of C18 brick. Interior: exposed timber
framing and stop-chamfered beams and joists; large stone
back-to-back fireplaces; 2 entrances with shaped heads, one
segmental-headed, one with Tudor head; 1st floor has room with
plaster floor, segmental-headed fireplace, cupboard with
H-hinge; cupboard with access to priest hole; exposed roof
truss with collar and queen struts with brick infill.
