Two town houses, one now hotel. c1820. Painted brick with
stucco dressings; hipped slate roof with brick ridge end and
cross-axial stacks. Georgian style. 3 storeys; 4-window range.
Plain eaves soffit. Entrances to centre have pilasters and
margin lights to overlights, that to No.5 has frieze and
consoled cornice over C20 six-fielded-panel door, that to No.6
has moulded pilasters and consoled pediment over C20
half-glazed door. Windows have sills, and rusticated wedge
lintels with keys, 4-pane sashes to ground floor, 12-pane
sashes to 1st floor, 6-pane sashes to 2nd floor. Single-window
right return to Payton Street with lower wing. Rear has 2
gabled wings and lean-to outshut. Part of the early C19
development of the northern part of Stratford, called New
Town.
