SX 98 NE WOODBURY NUTWELL ROAD, Lympstone

Former stables and servants' quarters for Nutwell Court, now used for storage.
Probably late C18. Red brick in English bond; gabled-end slate roof. A long
single depth range for accommodation, with stables at north end which returns
towards west. 2 storeys.
Front: regular 9-window range with crenellated parapet; all windows square-headed,
2 lights, with stone mullions, surround and hoodmould. 15 leaded panes per light.
Ground floor with 7 windows, and 2 doors under hood moulds. Heavy coping to gable
walls with apex pinnacle, axial stacks with triple brick shafts set diagonally with
decorated caps. Right-hand end of range (south) with one 5-light window in the
Decorated style, with timber slatting, under hood mould. Only one 2-light window
to rear. The stables act as a left-hand end cross-wing and are lower, with
crenellated parapet; 2-light 1st floor window facing south with door below, both
under hood moulds; double-doors to west (facing house) with pointed arch and hood
mould, the tympanum with a wooden blind arcade and quatrefoil.
