The Old Toll House

Toll house for turnpike road, now cottage. Circa late C19. Granite rubble with
rusticated granite dressings. Scantle slate roof with projecting eaves and verges.
Lateral stone external stack to middle of rear wall surmounted by 3 diagonally set
brick shafts.
Plan: 2 room plan plus later lean-to on right. Integral entrance porch set
diagonally to left-hand corner.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 2-window south-east front. Granite porch diagonally
set across and integral with the left-hand corner has a granite weathered roof and
C20 ledged door. 2-light casements. Left hand gable end has ground and first floor
windows overlooking the road.
Interior: not inspected.
