GV II
Rotunda. Late C19. Limestone with wrought iron open-work dome. A
shelter with seats in florid Classical style. Six slender Corinthian
Columns support a circular cornice with garlands and a dome framed
from small wrought-iron back-to-back volutes. The high, square,
column bases are carved with lions heads, quivers, shields , helmets
and cannons or ribbons and fruit. They are linked by a circular stone
seat with central console supports and each of the columns has a
mid-height garland band. The shelter has a circular yorkstone paved
base, approached up two steps. The dome has a cross finial rising
from the central summit boss. Moved to this position late C20.
