Former house and cottage, at one time divided into 3 cottages: now
No. 1 comprises the cottage and left part of the original house, and
No. 2 the right part. The original house is dated 1787, the cottage
in mid to late C19. Two storeys. Hammer dressed stone. Quoins
to house. Stone slate roof. The house has entrance to left with
deep lintel and blocked surround, and one 4-light window to right,
with only king mullion remaining. To 1st floor is one 6-light
window with king mullion. The cottage has entrance to right with
one 2-light window to left with mullion removed. One 3-light window
to 1st floor. Inscribed tablet over door of main house reads: 'This
house was erected in 1787 by Thomas and Martha Armitage'.
