Stable
- II
Farmhouse with attached Stable. Late C17 - early C18. Rubble stone walls,
hipped thatched roof, stone stack at junction with stable. One storey and
attic. Added porch has stone walls and corrugated iron roof. Ledged door.
Ground floor has one casement with centre horizontal bar. Attic has one 1/2
dormer with C20 casements with glazing bars. Stable has rear wall of cob.
Stable door. Rear lean-to extension, at lower level, with stone slate roof.
Lean-to to outbuilding at end of stable - roof gone. Internally, main ground
floor room has large open fireplace with timber lintol and bread ovens. Roof
structure appears original - principal rafters chamfered. A National Trust
property. (RCHM, Monument 174. Dorset. Vol II).
