1/19 Island Studio and The Candle Shop
GV II
Two houses, now used as shops with accommodation above. Circa late C18. Rendered and
painted stone rubble. Rag slate roof with gable ends, higher range on left. Brick end
stack on left, stone rubble axial stack with brick shaft between two houses and
remains of brick shaft to front lateral stack near right hand gable end of right hand
property.
Island Studio on left has a one room and passage plan with entrance on the right and
left hand room heated by end stack. Circa C19 lean-to outshut added to rear. Candle
Shop on right has two room and central entrance plan.
2 storeys overall 3 window regular front. Island Studio on left has part glazed early
C20 door to right and C19 2-light horizontal sliding sash and small casement window
on left. First floor with early C19 12-pane hornless sash in gabled half dormer.
Symmetrical 2-window front to the Candle Shop on right; partly glazed C20 central
door, two C19 horizontal sliding sashes on ground floor and two C19 casements above.
