Terrace of four houses. Circa 1840's. Granite ashlar with gable ends of granite
ashlar and stone rubble. Rag slate roof with gable ends. Brick end stacks and
central brick axial stack.
Plan: Terrace of 4 houses of double depth, each of 2-room plan; the 2 outer houses
heated by end stacks and the 2 central houses heated by a back-to-back axial stack.
Entrances directly into front living room with kitchen to rear and stair to rear of
entrance, partitioned off from kitchen by screen. Small single storey service wings
to rear rebuilt in late C20.
Exterior: 2-storeys. Regular 4-window front comprising 2 pairs of houses with
symmetrical 2-window front elevations. The left hand pair (No 1 and 2) have 2
central entrances with C19 stable type doors flanked by 2 16-pane sashes. The left
hand sash probably original and the right hand sash probably renewed in the C19 or
C20. 2 early C19 16-pane sashes on first floor. The second pair of cottages are a
mirror image, the doors are C19 and the left hand ground and first floor windows have
been renewed in the C19 and C20.
Interior: Largely complete. C19 ceiling beams, rough granite lintels to living room
fireplaces and early C19 staircases with stick balusters partitioned off by early C19
timber screens.
Unaltered front, rear and side elevations; interiors largely complete.
