Walls retaining raised pavement surrounding dung pit. Circa 1860. Shale rubble with
dressed granite copings forming kerb and retaining cobbled walkways in front of farm
buildings.
Rectangular pit with floor sloping down to north. Walls on east, west and north
sides.
Carminowe was an important manor from the C13. Part of a planned group of farm
buildings, the dung pit being the central feature providing drained dung storage for
the surrounding shippons, piggeries and stables.
