The Flying Childers Inn
GV II

House, now public house. Late C18 with C19 alterations and large C19 addition.
Coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. Plain tile roof,
with stone coped gables with moulded kneelers to C19 section and stone gable
end stack to west. Two storeys, L-plan, two bays to west elevation, three bay
north elevation, Western section C18 with blocked C18 flush central doorcase,
to south 2-light flush mullion window and to north, C19 flush doorcase with
'WPT' inscribed on lintel,and glazed panelled door. Above, two 2-light flush
mullion windows. Northern section C19 and higher, with irregular pattern of
openings. C20 window in flush quoined doorcase with lintel inscribed with
initials 'WPT', to west. Glazing bar sash in flush surround to east, with small
casement in flush surround beyond. To east again, two flush quoined doorcases,
both with lintels inscribed with initials 'WPT', that to east with glazed panelled
door, and that to west with glazing bar sash. Beyond, small casement window with
flush surround. Above, three glazing bar sashes in flush surrounds with inserted
C20 window between eastern sashes. Included for group value only.
