The Lodge

Lodge, now house. c1840. Built for the Thornhill family of Stanton Hall. Coursed,
squared gritstone with gritstone dressings, quoins and moulded eaves cornice. Stone
slate roofs with moulded stone copings with ornate ridge finials and stone, twin
diamond set ridge stack. Single storey, plus attics, T-plan, two bays. East
elevation has advanced pedimented porch with ovolo moulded four-centred arched
doorcase with incised spandrels. Above,shield in incised panel. Small arrow slit,
cross window in pedimented gable above. Similar larger window to either side of
porch. North elevation has advanced bay to east with canted bay window made up of
three pointed, cavetto moulded lights with incised spandrels over and leaded glazing.
To west, 3-light window of similar pointed lights. Above, in pedimented eastern
gable, a similar single light window with arrow slit, cross window above. To west,
a 2-light cavetto moulded mullion window with pointed lights and incised spandrels
in pedimented attic dormer. All glazing diamond leaded lights.
