GV II

House, now 3 houses. Probably C16, altered, refronted and
subdivided in mid C19. Timberframed late medieval house with 2
crosswings, set on a bank above the road. Red brick front and N
gable, weatherboarded S gable, with lower part plastered. At
front No 16 projects at the left hand end where probably a former
jettied upper floor has been underbuilt. Right hand crosswing
(No 20) has a jettied upper floor to rear but no projection at
front. C19 slate roofs parallel with road. Narrow bay on N end
may be a C19 addition. Arched braces to crossbeam supporting
upper floor in No 16. Brick front of No 16 has 2-windows on each
floor with segmental arches and modern wooden flush casements
with small panes. Fronts of 18 and 20 are a handed pair, both
with one window to each floor and door next corner. Segmental
arch and small paned flush window to upper floor and modern
segmental bow to ground floor. Modern panelled doors.
