House, now 3 houses. Probably C16, altered, refronted and
subdivided in mid C19. Timberframed late medieval house with 2
crosswings, set on a bank above the road. Red brick front and N
gable, weatherboarded S gable, with lower part plastered. At
front No 16 projects at the left hand end where probably a former
jettied upper floor has been underbuilt. Right hand crosswing
(No 20) has a jettied upper floor to rear but no projection at
front. C19 slate roofs parallel with road. Narrow bay on N end
may be a C19 addition. Arched braces to crossbeam supporting
upper floor in No 16. Brick front of No 16 has 2-windows on each
floor with segmental arches and modern wooden flush casements
with small panes. Fronts of 18 and 20 are a handed pair, both
