House. Late C15, rear stair turret and N gable chimney late C17, large
C20 rear wing. Timber frame, exposed with plastered panels to 1st floor
and painted brick panels on ground floor on E front and N end. S end
roughcast. Red brick rear wing and low garage at S end. Steep old red
tile roofs, half hipped at S and W. A small 2-bays, 2-storeys house
facing E with bold jetty to front, 2-storeys C20 rear wing and
single-storey lean-to garage at S end. 2 windows to each floor, a
2-light flush casement and a 2-light Yorkshire sliding casement to 1st
floor, a 3-light cast-iron margin-light lattice casement and a
3-light-wood casement to ground floor. Entrance at rear. Heavy flat
bull-nosed joists to jetty with painted brick pier at each end. Large
convex curved tension braces at corners of house, central bay-post and
storey-height studs flanking windows. N gable has cambered tie-beam and
collar supporting clasped-purlin roof. Large external N gable chimney
with tiled offsets and one flue. Small internal S gable chimney
relatively modern. The original 2-bays house has no evidence of original
heating. Stair-trap formerly with stair at NW corner with stair
travelling E. Blocked door between 1st floor rooms partly over jetty.
Stair added in late C17 to rear wall of N bay and a large fireplace and
chimney to N end. Curved wind-braces to clasped-purlin roof. Jowled
posts to queen-strut and collar trusses. (RCHM Typescript).
