GV II

Public house and shop. Early C19, shop late C19. Stuccoed,
slate roof, hipped, 4 large brick stacks. 3 storeys, 3-window
entrance front, the central ones blind, small-pane frames,
stone sills, statue of red lion on brackets in first-floor
blind window. Central pilastered doorway with cornice,
flanking windows with leaded panes and cornices on console
brackets. Left return, to Meadow Lane: 6 windows, one blind,
sashes as front, far left first floor paired; entrance below
window 5, door case and window to right as front, those to
left plain with leaded panes; shop entrance and window to far
left: slim glazing bars, fascia with pinnacles, restored.
INTERIOR: small rooms flank entrance passage; main bar
replanned and all refitted c1989.
