House, now offices, with area railings. 1793, altered C19. By
John Cordingley, master carpenter. Red brick, Flemish bond,
slate roof, wrought-iron railings.
2 storeys with basement and attic; 4 bays with 1:1:3:1
windows, symmetrical facade with extra bay to left, pedimented
3-window part. Central panelled door with fanlight,
three-quarter Tuscan columns, open pediment. Plate-glass
sashes, stone sills, painted lintels, sill band to 1st floor
centre. Dentilled eaves cornice and pediment with round window
in tympanum.
INTERIOR: now part of an office complex extending from Nos
40-44 (qv); retains fine staircase with knopped column on vase
balusters of 2 straight flights rising to first floor,
round-arched stair window; also reputed to contain ground
floor left panelled walls and fine moulded cornice, bolection
moulded fireplace; ground floor right panelled walls, cornice,
round-arched alcove, fine fireplace; ground floor rear room
with fireplace with elliptical pilasters, and landing with
round arches and fluted jambs.
Railings: plain, bud finials.
John Cordingley also built Nos 26 & 27 Park Square (qqv); in
1799 he sold this house for ยป1500.
