Lodge, gate piers, gates to Cliff
House and flanking walls

Lodge and gateway at drive to Cliff House. Early C19. Coursed
squared edge-tooled gritstone, slate roof to lodge, ashlar
piers and walls, cast-iron gates and railings.
2-storey lodge has canted bay to drive, sashes with glazing
bars in moulded stone architraves, carved panels at floor
level. Moulded eaves cornice, tall corniced ashlar stacks.
Inner and outer gate piers are square section with chamfered
base, moulded cornice and flattened pyramid capstones, inner
capstones missing. A curved wall extends from the outer piers
to a pair of larger piers with vermiculated rustication.
Gates: inner 2-leaf and outer pedestrian gates have bars, dog
bars, lock and top rails, X-braces and floriate finials.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A plaque on the right gate pier records the gift of house and
grounds by Stephen Cliff Esq to the City of Leeds in 1929.
