Statue. c1895. By Alfred Drury. Purchased 1895 by Leeds City
Art Gallery. Bronze. Octagonal plinth with Classical motifs
and Greek mask flanked by 3 swine and a vase with spilt
grapes; nude female figure, mirror and part of drapery
missing. Stands on a C20 brick base. Statue of Circe who
changed Ulysses' companions into a herd of swine.
The statue originally stood in the Queen's Room of Leeds City
Art Gallery (qv), photographs of the room c1910 show the
statue complete.
