Commercial premises, now bank. Early-mid C19. Stucco with roof
obscured behind blocking course. Italianate palazzo style with
rounded angle of 1 bay to left return.
Main elevation of 4 storeys and basement, 9 bays; return of 4
storeys with 2 basement floors below (upper one rusticated), 3
bays.
Main elevation: plinth to street with semi-sunk basement
windows. Ground floor has frieze and cornice held by
pilasters, with paterae in necking and panelled bases at
basement level, with C20 windows (end one now a door) between.
Doorway with break-front cornice on heavy, scrolled brackets,
with segmental pediment over.
1st-floor sash windows have architraves, with pulvinated
frieze and vermiculated keystone, cornice and pediment;
balustrades at window bases, the rails continuous with a
string. 2nd-floor sash windows have architraves, frieze and
cornice with bracketed sills and sill string. 3rd floor
segment-headed sash windows have architraves with keystones
linked by stringcourse, bracketed sills and sill string.
Frieze and cornice above with dentils and modillions.
Fenestration to rounded corner and return treated similarly.
