Semi-detached pair of houses. 1888. By Horace Field. Red
brick, hipped and tiled roof over eaves cornice, shaped
gables, tall brick chimneys. White-painted windows, mainly
casements in front, sashes at rear. Dormers in roof. Queen
Anne style. 2 main storeys. Heavy composition with strongly
stressed ends having deep projecting entrance porches with
pilasters and doorway beneath segmental pediment, a polygonal
bay window on the floor above, and a tall gable rising into
roof (cut down slightly on No.11). Tall chimneys on flank
walls. Houses increase in width towards rear.
INTERIORS not inspected.
Part of a group with Nos 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 (qqv) also early
works by Field.
