Garden wall attached to north end of
Meols Hall

GV II

Garden wall. Probably late C17 or early C18; altered and
extended. Bounds north and west sides of garden to north of
Meols Hall (qv), being attached to its north-west corner.
Hand-made red brick in irregular English garden wall bond.
The portion attached to the house and running north is approx.
35m long and 3m high, has 5 large curved buttresses and is
stepped on the inner side, the upper third being slightly set
back; its eastward return is the same height and approx. the
same length (having been extended to link with a C20 gazebo),
has 5 triangular buttresses and incorporates an
elliptical-arched bower near its west end (perhaps C20).
Forms group with Meols Hall (qv) and with Ha-ha (qv).
