Meadow headstone approx. 5m south of
nave of Church of St Cuthbert

GV II

Headstone and grave slab. Probably c1737-40, with later
alterations. Commemorates Elizabeth, wife of William Meadow,
and Richard, son of the same, both d.1737 (and further
commemorations). Sandstone. Rectangular slab with shaped top,
inscribed: Here lyeth / Elizabeth wife of / Willm. Meadow and
/ Richard his son / was buryed ye 6th / of April 1737 / Mary
wife of [illegible] / Meadow was buryed / May ye 4th 1754 /
Jno Meadow died Sept / The 24th 1780 Ea 79.
Forms group with Church of St Cuthbert (qv), with Ball
monument (qv) and with Sutton monument (qv).
