Villa and carriage house, now house and office, with attached
railings. c1834-1838 with later additions and alterations.
Brick with painted stucco facades, Welsh slate roof, lead roof
to porch and cast-iron porch, verandahs and railings.
Neo-Tudor style.
EXTERIOR: main range of 2 storeys with attic and basement, 2
bays, that to left slightly recessed, that to right has gable
end to street, and single-storey entrance bay to right;
2-lower-storey, single-bay range to left, with corridor
between.
House has quoins to all angles. 2 first-floor windows; band,
1/1 sashes with chamfered surrounds and hoodmoulds, decorative
blind boxes.
Ground floor, entrance: 2 roll-edged steps to porch with
slender columns and tent roof. Within, a 3-panel door, the
upper 2 with Gothic tracery to heads, 4-pane side-lights, the
upper 2 with Gothic glazing, beneath 4-centred-arched
overlight with decorative glazing.
Above and behind porch an embattled parapet with quatrefoil
motif. 1/1 sashes with chamfered surrounds and individual
verandahs with 4-centered-arched balustrades and decorative
barge-boards.
Attic to front gable has 2-pane casement with overlight in
pointed-arched, chamfered surround with hoodmould and foliate
stops. Decorative barge-boards. Side stacks, 1 with cornice.
Basement has 8/8 sashes and glazed entrance.
Carriage house has gable end to street. Quoins. Central
segmental-arched carriage opening now with plate-glass window.
First floor has 6/6 sash, chamfered sill and hoodmould.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Leam Terrace was laid out 1828-1836 and both
sides to Willes Road were almost completely built by 1841.
