House, now 2 shops with flats over. Early C19 with later
additions and alterations including early C20 ground-floor
shop front. Pinkish-brown brick in Flemish bond, whitewashed
to front facade, Welsh slate roof.
3 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. First floor: 6/6 sashes,
second floor: 3/3 sashes, all in plain reveals and with sills
and flat channelled arches with raised keystones. Ground
floor: 2 shop fronts each with Tuscan pilasters, continuous
frieze and cornice. Shop fronts chamfered towards central
entrance to left and to right side, part-glazed doors with
overlights. End stacks, very tall to right, with cornices.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Regent Street was so named following the
visit of Prince Regent in 1819. Originally known as Cross
Street, it was one of the earliest in the 'New Town' to be
laid out, c1808-1814. The original houses were brick fronted.
