Wall at ent. to drive to Edstone)

GV II

Gate pier, wall and end pier. Early C19 with ball finial
believed to be C20 replacement. Sandstone ashlar. Piers
approx. 2m high, ovolo-moulded plinth, shaft square on plan
surmounted by shaped cornice, gate pier surmounted again by
stepped plinth and ball finial. Solid wall curved on plan
extends to south for approx. 4m, ovolo-moulded plinth, wall
approx. 1.5m high with cambered copings. Originally the wall
and piers to Edstone Hall (demolished and replaced 1936 and
not included; NMR 1166).
Forms a group with Edstone Lodge Gate pier, Wall and Piers
(north) (qv) and Edstone Lodge (qv).
