QUINTON

SP1847 LOWER QUINTON
1912-1/14/158 Outbuilding immediately north-east
of College Farmhouse

GV II

Cottage, now outhouse. C17 or early C18. Brick and
timber-frame with pebbledash; tile roof with brick end stacks.
2-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range. Front is pebbledashed. 2
entrances with plank doors, that to left has overlight, the
other with flanking small blocked windows; 1st floor has 2
small windows with decayed 2-light casements. Stack to right
end to rear of ridge, and later stack to right return lean-to
outshut with weatherboarded front. Brick left return and
pebbledash rear.
INTERIOR: large fireplace with stop-chamfered bressumer, bread
oven and small light; chamfered beams, one on chamfered posts;
some timber framing visible.
The farm is owned by Magdalen College, Oxford, from which it
gets its name.
