House with attached barn, then 2 cottages, now house. Early
C18 with late C18 additions and C20 alteration. Barn converted
to domestic use early. Coursed millstone grit with tooled
ashlar dressings, stone slate roof and ridge stack with
weathering.
PLAN: single-depth, 2 unit plan with added lean-to.
EXTERIOR: 2 storey. Quoins. Front has 2 window range with two
3-light recessed mullion windows to each floor.
Left return has single 2-light recessed mullion window to
first floor and to left at mid floor level a blocked window
under heavy lintel partly obscured by single storey lean-to
porch with plank door in flush ashlar surround and 3-light
chamfered mullion window to left return. Rear elevation has
vertical building break and vertical breathers plus scattered
C20 fenestration including single, former 2-light mullion,
window in chamfered surround to extreme left. Large C20 glazed
double doors to right. All windows have C20 casements with
diamond leaded glazing.
INTERIOR: ground floor only inspected. Ceiling beams remain to
principal room and kitchen. Joists and floorboards exposed,
some in kitchen probably original. Stone arched fireplace
under beamed inglenook to principal room.
Former circular stone bread oven in the kitchen removed by
previous owner.
