Merchant's house, now shops and flats. Mid-late C18. Painted
brick with rusticated stucco quoins and mid-floor bands;
concrete tile roof with 2 roof dormers with late C19 paired
sashes; brick end stacks; cast-iron ogee gutter. Deep plan.
4 storeys; symmetrical 5-window front. C20 copy 12-pane
hornless sashes. Ground floor has some surviving features of a
good pilastered shopfront incorporating central house doorway
with open pediment and modillion cornice linked to similar
entablature above C20-altered shopfronts, the one on the left
with a central doorway, the other with a doorway on the its
left. The house doorway has fluted pilasters with 2-tier
carved consoles and a 4-pane overlight above the original
6-panel door with flush bottom panels and fielded panels
above. Rear has tall staircase window.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
