Villa now education centre. 1850-60. Stucco over brick with
hipped, artificial slate roof, stucco stack to right end,
front; iron balcony. Double depth plan with rear, right
stairhall.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, 4 first-floor windows, with
single-storey entrance porch to right. Stucco detailing:
ground floor has quoins to angles of main range and horizontal
rustication with continuous tooled cornice then frieze over
(frieze then cornice to porch); continuous tooled first-floor
sill band; crowning frieze, cornice and modillion eaves.
Windows have tooled architraves throughout, those to ground
floor have ears and keystones; those to first-floor have
cornices on acanthus brackets. Entrance has tooled round-arch
with keystone on imposts. 2/2 sashes throughout, taller to
ground floor; basement has 6/6 sashes. Entrance: flight of
renewed roll-edged steps between coped low walls to set-back
4-panel door with side-lights and divided overlight between
pilaster strips.
INTERIOR: retains original features including embellished
cornices with ceiling frieze; staircase has rod on onion
balusters and handrail with lion's paw foot; shutters to some
windows; otherwise not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: continuous ground-floor balcony has
ornate balustrade.
A similar design to Nos 1 (qv) and 5 (qv) College Lawn.
