Two pairs of gate piers with wall
adjoining to Oakley and Little
Oakley

GV II

2 pairs of gate piers to carriage sweep with boundary wall
between. c1833-50. Piers: ashlar over brick, with wall in
gault brick with purple brick dressings and ashlar copings.
Piers (alike): chamfered plinth; channelled and vermiculated
shafts, roll-moulded band, frieze, shaped cornice and
'cross-gabled' caps; approx 2m high. Wall: chamfered plinth,
crowning decorative band, modillion frieze and copings, approx
1.75m high and 25m long.
An integral part of a group of original piers (qqv) forming a
significant streetscape feature in The Park.
