GV II

Villa. c1820-34. Ashlar over brick with hipped slate roof and
end ashlar stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 4 first-floor window with 2-storey
entrance bay set back to left. Main range has end pilasters
and horizontal rustication to ground floor with voussoirs over
windows, first-floor band. 6/6 sashes throughout, taller to
ground floor, all in plain reveals and with sills. Entrance to
left, flight of roll-edged steps to double part-glazed doors
and overlight, set back with Doric pilasters to opening. Wide
eaves. First-floor band inscribed 'Tivoli House'.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: houses along Tivoli Road (known then as
Tivoli) are shown as laid out on Merrett's 1834 map with
several to the north end shown as built.
