Villa. c1834-40. Ashlar over brick with hipped slate roof and
end brick stacks; wrought-iron balcony.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows. Ashlar
detailing includes pilasters to ends and tooled first-floor
band. 6/6 sashes to first-floor with French windows to centre,
3-light 6/6 between 2/2 sashes on ground floor with segmental
recess above; all in plain reveals and with sills. Central
entrance, porch with square Doric columns, flight of 8
roll-edged steps to 4-panel double doors with overlight. Wide
eaves.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: balcony over porch has scrolled lozenge
motif.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Sir Ralph Richardson, the actor, was born
here in 1902.
