Villa. c1834-40. Stucco over brick with hipped slate roof and
brick left end stack; iron railings and window boxes.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows.
Central window is set back slightly at first floor, forming
wide outer breakforwards. Stucco detailing includes Doric
pilasters to ends of breakforwards, those to centre are from
first floor, with continuous crowning frieze; moulded
first-floor string; first-floor windows in tooled architraves.
Wide eaves. 2/2 horizontal-pane sashes where original, those
to ground floor are 3-light between 1/1 sashes and have
elliptically-arched recesses over; all in plain reveals and
with sills; blind boxes remain o most ground-floor windows.
Flight of 9 steps, roll-edged where original, to central
entrance in Doric porch with 2 pairs of columns and architrave
with triglyphs and metopes.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: stick balustrade to sides of steps with
wreathed handrail. Window boxes to ground floor have 3 levels
of rails.
HISTORICAL NOTE: houses in Tivoli Road (originally known as
Tivoli) are shown as laid out on Merrett's Map of 1834.
