Vicarage. Abuts No.24 (qv) to west. c1830 with later additions
and alterations including probably late C19 range to rear.
Brick with painted stucco dressings; hipped slate roof, ridge
and hip tiles. Four brick stacks (pair to each end), each with
2 string courses, oversailing detail and pots.
PLAN: double-depth with central hallway and service wing to
rear left.
EXTERIOR: symmetrical facade of 3 storeys. 3 first floor
windows, central French window with margin-glazing and
fanlight. Otherwise ground- and first-floors have 8/8 sashes
with flat arches of red rubbed brick; second-floor has central
3/6 sash and 4/8 sashes. All in plain reveals and with sills.
Central entrance with distyle Tuscan porch and engaged
pilasters and entablature; 5-panel door, top 4 glazed, bottom
panel flush-beaded with incised elliptical motif, fanlight of
circle-and-teardrop design.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Venetian shutters and shutter boxes to
outer first-floor windows, hinged shutters to second-floor.
Central first-floor window has individual balcony with
cast-iron scrolled-heart pattern balusters (similar design to
those used on nos 28 and 29 (qv) St. George's Square) and
domed, Moorish-style hood.

HISTORICAL NOTE: Marked as vicarage on 1886 O.S. map and
possibly one of the three buildings shown on the N side of the
Square on Clement's map of 1828; thus assumed to be the
vicarage for the first Church of St George, built 1828,
demolished pre-1895 to make way for new Church (qv).
