GV II

House. c1830-40 with later additions and alterations. Brick
with painted stucco dressings, hipped slate roof, pair of tall
end-wall (east) stacks with oversailing details and pots.
PLAN: double-depth, entrance hall to right. Very narrow
2-storey flat roofed wing set back to right. 2-storey service
wing to rear right.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar, 2 first-floor windows. Canted
bay at left to ground- and first-floor, hipped slate roof;
sashes to bay are 4/1:6/1:4/1, first-floor sash to right is
8/8, second-floor sashes are 4/4, in plain reveals with sills
and rusticated flat arches with projecting fluted keystones.
5-panel entrance door, upper and centre panels raised and
fielded, bottom panel flush-beaded with incised elliptical
motif; fanlight with floral pattern design to glazing bars;
tooled architrave; roll-edged step.
INTERIOR: retains some original joinery including staircase
with stick balusters and wreathed handrail, the hall also
retains ceramic tiled floor and decorative plasterwork to
ceiling.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Of similar design to No.3 (qv) St. George's
Square.
