GV II

Gates, gate piers and flanking walls. Dated 1938. Rustic red
brick with cream-coloured stone details. Wrought-iron gates.
Bronze plaque.
Principal pair of gate piers linked by approx. 2.5m of
flanking wall to outer pair of shorter piers. Walls slightly
curved in plan; concave ramp up to main piers. Piers are quare
with inset corners and raised panels; chamfered top plinths to
piers and walls. Stone detailing includes plain wall coping
linked to main piers by scrolled brackets; ornate pier caps
with moulded cornice details and surmounted by ball finials.
Gates composed of mainly vertical bars surmounted by central
scroll decoration with urn finials. Small shield on hinge-side
of each gate, cross of St. George to left, red rose to right.
Plaque on left-hand pier inscribed, 'ERECTED TO THE GLORY OF
GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF WILHELMENA ROSS-MACKENZIE OF THIS
PARISH WHO PASSED AWAY ON JULY 4TH 1938.'
