Dry bridge in the grounds of Ascot
Place, approx 600m north-west of the
house

Dry bridge. Early C19 by CC Ferard. Dressed stone, the east
and west faces in the form of castle gateways.
East face symmetrical central opening with pointed arch, plain
frieze and moulded cornice breaking forward over centre. 2
mythical beasts heads over arch. Flanked on each side with
weathered buttress of 2 stages. The approach to this face is
approached by banks of rock.
West face symmetrical. Central section with pointed arch
platband, plain cornice and parapet with Greek style medallion
in centre. Projection section on each side each with platband
and lancet with plain surround.
The dry bridge forms part of the garden listed II* in the
Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Interest in England.
