Gothic seat in the grounds of Ascot
Place, approx 220m NW of the house

Gothic seat. Early C19 by CC Ferard. Stone and rendered brick.
Segmental plan with open 3 bay pointed arch arcade on north. 4
piers with clustered shafts, moulded bases and moulded impost
bands enriched with foliage carving. Elaborate heads with
acanthus leaves and bead and reel ornament. Frieze of blank,
cusped arcading; moulded cornice, embattled parapet and
crocketed finials at corners. Wood seat with fluted fascia and
delicate arch pattern back rest. The seat forms part of the
garden listed II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of
Special Interest in England.
